Privacy Policy
TV Tracker keeps track of the shows you watch. This policy says exactly what it stores, where, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read, not to cover us.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive your email address and, if the provider supplies one, your name. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us — that is fine, and everything works normally.
We never receive your password, and we have no way to sign in as you.
What you create in the app
- The shows you track
- Which episodes you have watched, and when you marked them
- Ratings you give a show or a season
- Shows you have hidden from recommendations
- Your settings: notification preferences and sort order
This is stored on our servers (Supabase, hosted on AWS in the United States) so it reaches every device you sign in on. It is tied to your account id, and no one else can read it.
Households
If you link a household with someone, they can see which shows you track and which episodes you have watched — that is the entire point of the feature. They cannot see your ratings, your hidden shows, your settings, or anything about your account. Either of you can unlink at any time, from either side, and access stops immediately.
Trakt
Connecting Trakt is optional. If you connect it, your Trakt access tokens are stored on your device only — never on our servers. You can import your Trakt history, and while Trakt stays connected we copy your watch history to it in the background so your Trakt account stays current. You can turn that off, or disconnect Trakt, at any time; what you already imported stays yours.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are bought and managed through Apple. We never see your payment details — Apple does not give them to us. We store only what is needed to know whether your subscription is active: which plan, when it expires, and whether it is a trial.
Diagnostics and analytics
- Sentry receives crashes and errors so we can fix them. Authorization headers are removed and account identifiers are masked before anything is sent.
- PostHog receives anonymous product events — that a show
was added, that a tab was opened — as counts, never show titles or
usernames. We do not call
identify(), so there is no profile of you. Session recording, heatmaps and autocapture are switched off in code, not merely unchecked in a dashboard.
Measuring our ads
We advertise TV Tracker on Instagram and Facebook. To know whether those ads work, the iPhone app includes Meta's SDK, which tells Meta a few milestones: that the app was opened, that a new account finished setup, that five shows were added, that a free trial or subscription started, and that a trial became a paid subscription (with its plan and price). Like any connection, those requests carry your device model, iOS version and IP address. They never include your shows, your account or your email.
- Collection of your device's advertising identifier is switched off, and the app never asks for permission to track you.
- Which ad led to an install is worked out by Apple (SKAdNetwork), which reports campaigns to Meta without saying who installed.
- The web app does not include it.
Other services we read from
The app fetches show information, air dates and artwork from TVMaze and ratings from OMDb. These requests carry the show being looked up, not who is looking.
Deleting everything
In the app: Settings → TV Tracker account → Delete account. That removes your account, your shows, your watch history, your ratings, your settings and any household link — permanently, not disabled. Your Trakt account and its history are untouched, because they were never ours.
Children
TV Tracker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top changes and the app will tell you.
